Welcome to Little Owls Nursery in Alvaston!
Located just a 10-minute walk from Elvaston Castle Country Park, our Keldholme site is perfectly positioned for not only local children, but for parents working at or through Pride Park or the Derby town centre.
Nestled away just from the main Shardlow road in Alvaston, and a stones throw away from the A6 we offer an ideal environment for your little one to learn and flourish.

A little bit about us
Our community is based nursery is open planned for children to be able to learn and explore the activities and rich experiences planned throughout the day. Indoor and outdoor experiences are planned linked to the children's developmental needs, and also the seasons.
We are fortune to have a small park located next door to us and lots of green space where we can go on little nature walks -spotting for butterflies and ladybirds, and listening to the birds in the trees.
Each session you will have a digital write up of your child's day with us at Little Owls on your child's individual Famly platform- so whether its yourself picking up or one of your named and approved people upon registration, you will be updated about your child's day, personal care and meals, any long term medication they may need throughout their session.
Famly
We utilise Famly as our platform not only to monitor your child's developmental progress but also to provide you with weekly updates on their learning journey through videos, photos, and written observations. Your child's progress reviews are created by their key worker, and we also compile a school report when it's time for them to embark on their next adventure to Primary school and fly the nest!
Famly fosters a strong partnership with parents, making home learning more accessible than ever. You can share your weekend activities or celebrate special milestones, and stay informed about upcoming events at the touch of a button via the calendar feature, newsletters shared on Famly, and any medications your child may require during their time with us.
Monthly invoices are available on Famly for your own reference or for Universal Credit upload
Flying start 2 year funding
Children eligible for Flying Start funding can attend Little Owls Alvaston for free funded sessions
We offer a variety of options for families, and meals and snacks for children are covered as part of their session, all at no cost.
Home cooked food cooked from the heart tastes better
We are registered with the Derby Council Food Standards Agency at both of our sites.
All staff members at Little Owls Nursery have completed Level 2 food hygiene training as part of their essential training.
We offer home-cooked, freshly prepared meals that are abundant in vegetables, ensuring our delicious menus provide a well-balanced diet.
We accommodate children with allergies and any specific dietary requirements. All menus are seasonal and can be accessed through the Famly app as well as in your child's daily report.
